Technical Manager Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Manager to be responsible for organizing technical teams and providing technical oversight on projects for our organization. You will be tasked with assembling appropriate technical team members, gathering consultant cost estimates, reviewing deliverables, providing overall supervision to teams, and acting as a technical liaison on a variety of different projects. You will also be in charge of assisting in the development of project operating plans.

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have prior experience in both team management and technical project management. A Master’s degree is recommended.

Project Manager Responsibilities:
• Organize appropriate technical teams to meet the customer’s goals and adhere to constraints of the project
• Develop technical operating plans and methodologies for projects
• Assess strengths and identify areas for improvement upon completion of projects
• Manage a team with a diverse array of talents, responsibilities, and technical expertise
• Ensure goals are met in areas including quality, customer satisfaction, and team member performance
• Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved
• Maintain constant and transparent communication regarding status and issues on services between customer, team members, and project manager
• Produce accurate and timely reporting of project status throughout its life cycle
• Perform as a technical liaison between the project manager, customer, and technical team
• Travel based upon project and customer needs

Required Experience/Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM Discipline or 10+ years related experience
• Understanding of project management processes
• Competency in Microsoft Office 365 and other cloud-based applications
• Proven experience managing teams of external consultants
• Proven experience interfacing with customers
• Organizational and time management skills

Desired Experience/Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in STEM Discipline
• Manufacturing experience (semiconductors, software development, electronics, etc)
• Knowledge of intellectual property, specifically patents
• Experience working in a home-based/virtual environment
• Experience working with international teams/clients
